Web Wise: Search Engine Submission Search Engine Submission is an art and a science unto itself. If you hired a profession to build your web site then you can be certain that they paid attention to the interior making of the META tags and KEYWORDS. Both are essential to getting a seach engine to find and catalog your site into an area that will allow viewers to find you when they do a search using a Directory like Yahoo.com or MSN. At one time submitting to search engines was FREE AND SIMPLE, just fill out a short form and wait 24 hours to 5 days and your domain name would appear in their directory. With pay per click and sponsor level submissions - It has gotten quite complicated and some companies now make a decent living at just submitting web sites to search engines. How do I choose? Review your advertising budget and see who you can afford. I always suggest that people talk to their friends and co-workers about which seach engines they frequently use and submit to the one that is most common in your area or circle of friends. I have created a frame set of links to submission sites and separated them by ones that charge fees and those that are still free! So, you can stay right here and do alot of your submitting work. |
